Wood is a natural material that gives warmth to spaces. However, it is a living material that interacts with the surrounding environment and for this reason it can undergo variations over time. The predominant factors for color variations are light and exposure to air.
Wood is a natural and therefore inhomogeneous material: even two elements of the same wood can never be identical to each other.
WOOD OXIDATION
A newly produced wooden floor has a distinct color than it will have after some time, due to oxidation, a natural phenomenon that occurs due to the exposure of the parquet to light.
Wood is a photosensitive material. It undergoes the process of natural color variation, as a result of exposure to air and light, especially due to the action of ultraviolet rays; this variation occurs mainly in the first periods of exposure to light. Depending on the wood species, oxidation is more or less evident; wood normally tends to darken, except Teak and Thermo Oak, which instead become clearer. For this reason, the newly laid material may be different for hues compared to the sample viewed by the customer.

Laying must be carried out by gluing to the laying surface with polyurethane glues, or by floating on a suitable underfloor mat.
To obtain a proper installation, we must first check that the laying surface has some fundamental characteristics to be suitable for receiving the parquet and maintaining it structurally stable in time:
During laying humidity of air must be between 45% and 65% with a temperature not lower than 15°C.
Humidity of the sub-floors must not exceed 2% by weight for normal or rapid cementitious screeds, 1.7% for heated screeds. The control of humidity of the screed must be carried out using a carbide hygrometer immediately before laying.
For installation on heating or cooling floors, make sure that the coil is covered by at least 3 cm of screed, that the maximum temperature of the surface does not exceed 23-24°C and that the heating is activated gradually according to the schemes envisaged for laying of parquets (UNI 11371:2017).
The suitability of the spaces and of the laying surface must be previously ascertained by the person who undertakes the laying of the wooden flooring, as required by the UNI 11265 standard.

The correct laying of the parquet on underfloor heating is essential to ensure a long life of the wooden floor and a uniform temperature in the house.
First of all, the coil of the radiant system must be covered by at least 3 cm of screed; heating must be started up gradually and the rooms have to be constantly ventilated during the works.
In case of a new construction, it is essential to turn on the heating three weeks before laying. Each day it has to be increased by 10°C, until it reaches 30-35°C, the maximum degree of heat. This temperature has to be maintained for 10 days, in order for the screed to stabilize and all humidity to go away. Subsequently, the system has to be switched off again in a gradual manner for three days, to make it cool completely. Before proceeding with the laying of the parquet, we have to wait another 5 days.
Once the wooden floor is installed and the underfloor heating will come into operation, the temperature must always be between 23 and 24°C with a humidity level between 45 and 60%. By following these basic rules for the underfloor heating and laying parquet, our rooms will be flooded with a uniform warmth and our parquet will not undergo any alteration over time.
